Every Thursday morning, I log in to the Puttyverse and fire up a Zoom room. Within minutes, I’m joined by a small group of multipotentialites from different corners of the earth: North Carolina, the Netherlands, Sweden, Quebec…
We greet each other — it’s so nice to see everyone! We catch up for a few minutes and tell each other what we’re going to be working on over the next two hours.
I load up the first 25 minute timer.
“And 3… 2… 1… GO!” I say dramatically. (Cause it’s funny.)
We mute our microphones and get to work. Some of us are focusing on businesses or work projects, some are studying, some are making art, some are writing, some are doing a hobby, some are pursuing a BIG SCARY DREAM PROJECT we normally put off… Anything goes at the Focus Party!
I make sure to unmute myself before the timer goes off. Yes, that’s the sound of bongos you hear.
Everyone smiles and we regroup. We touch base, we share frustrations (if there are any) and ask for advice (if it’s needed) and then we set another 25 minute timer.
The time flies. And we are unbelievably productive! By the end of the Focus Party, everyone’s accomplished something and we give each other some major virtual high fives.
The weekly Focus Party is just one of the events we’ve added to the Puttyverse community calendar since the pandemic started.
This last month was actually one of our liveliest months in our eight year history! We held a board game night, a monthlong creative challenge and so many huddles, which are small group brainstorms where you can get feedback and help with your multipotentialite projects/life.
We have lots planned for the future, too, including an introvert-friendly karaoke party, a workshop, more co-working/Focus Parties, and tons of huddles on topics like building businesses, accountability and overcoming anxiety. The forum’s also buzzing with activity, for those who are feeling some video fatigue or prefer connecting over text.
Our community has been a life-saver for so many multipods recently, so if you could use some super kind and helpful multipotentialite friends right now, you should join us:
I can’t wait to get to know you better and maybe catch you at a Focus Party (or huddle or forum discussion or karaoke–woo!) very soon.
Your pal and fellow multipotentialite,
Emilie
