Your $35 tuition gives you access to all course materials forever, so you can try out new ideas and refer back to readings and worksheets.

How it works

Work Your Work! is a self-paced, nine-module course. There is no set start date or timetable, so you can go through the material at your own pace and jump around as much as you like.

Each module includes a lesson, exercises, and audio prompts. Some modules have a bonus case study video that highlights a real life multipotentialite who’s using the techniques discussed in the course.

To get the most out of the course, you’ll want to complete the super helpful, step-by-step worksheets. There are ten worksheets–49 pages in total–which build upon each other and ultimately leave you with a concise (not too concise–don’t worry!) list of personalized career ideas and small, manageable action steps. Each worksheet is a fillable PDF, which you can download and complete or print and fill out by hand.

The exercises also come with Emilie’s short, kick-you-in-the-butt audio prompts for when you’re feeling stuck and having trouble getting yourself to actually do the worksheet.

Who’s the instructor?

Hi! I’m Emilie Wapnick. I’m an award-winning author, career coach and community builder. I’m the founder and creative director at Puttylike and the Puttyverse, where I help multipotentialites (people with many passions and creative pursuits) integrate all of their interests to create dynamic, fulfilling, and fruitful careers and lives.

My TED talk, Why Some of Us Don’t Have One True Calling, has been viewed 7 million times. My book How to Be Everything, was published by HarperCollins in 2017. It has been translated into 13 languages and won a Nautilus Book Award. I’ve been featured in The New York Times, Fast Company, Forbes, New York Magazine, The Huffington Post, BBC and Lifehacker.

I created Work Your Work! because I felt there was a need for an accessible and affordable resource to help new and seasoned multipotentialites learn about all the beautiful ways multipods build careers and lives around their many interests.

What happens after I sign up?

Once your payment goes through, you’ll be redirected to a page where you can set up your “Puttylike Courses” account. Click “Don’t have an account? Create a Puttylike Courses account”. Then, just follow the prompts, set up your account, and you’ll get immediate access to all nine modules of the course. You’ll also receive this information and a receipt via email.

What equipment do I need to participate?

The course is accessible online. All you need is a device with internet access, the ability to open the PDF worksheets, and speakers or headphones to listen to the audio prompts.

How is this course different from your book, How to Be Everything?

Work Your Work! touches on many of the same themes as the work section of How to Be Everything. The major difference is that Work Your Work! is in a course format with interactive worksheets, so it’s designed to get you thinking, moving and dreaming in concrete ways.

Different people have different learning styles. If you enjoy learning through lessons and assignments, and you’re looking to understand how multipotentialites make a living (and you want to understand it NOW), this course would be a good fit. If, on the other hand, you want a more holistic companion guide to living and thriving as a multipotentialite, or you just like holding a physical book, check out How to Be Everything.

Should I take this course if I’ve already read How to Be Everything?

That depends. Did you do every exercise in How to Be Everything? If you read the work chapters and actually completed the exercises, you might not get much more out of this course. However, if you skipped over the exercises, want some extra hand-holding, or just know you could benefit from getting all that info in a different style, Work Your Work! would be a great addition.

Finally, if you’re a fan of awesome worksheets, you’ll love Work Your Work! You don’t need to have read How to Be Everything to rock this course, but it does make a pretty awesome workbook companion to the book.

How is this course different from your digital guide, Renaissance Business?

Work Your Work! covers the many ways that multipotentialites structure their careers, including part-time and full-time employment, a collection of specialized businesses, multifaceted businesses, periodically starting over in new fields, etc.

Renaissance Business is a more specific ebook that covers just one of these methods: starting a broad online business. If you already know that is what you would like to do, Renaissance Business is a good choice. But if you’d like to learn about the numerous work structures available to you, Work Your Work! would be a better fit. Certainly, if you’re starting out and are this is all new to you, I would recommend beginning with Work Your Work!

Why is this course so cheap?

Good question! When I first set out to create this course, I was thinking about pricing it in the $100-$200 range, which is quite standard for online courses. I made the choice to price it much lower because I want this course to be accessible to as many multipotentialites as possible.

That’s really it. The price tag might go up in the future. But for now, I feel really good providing something so valuable at an affordable price. If you love this course, please tell your friends about it.

You’ll learn a lot by simply taking the lessons. But I want you to finish this course with your own list of super exciting, custom career ideas. I have a lot going on in my life right now and I sometimes have trouble focusing. Should I still sign up for this course?

You have a lot going on, you say? Heh, welcome to being a multipotentialite! This course is designed with you in mind. The lessons are brief and to the point, the worksheets build upon each other, and there’s a lot of guidance and hand-holding as you go through the program.

Multipotentialites tend to have busy schedules, so there are no specific dates for the classes. Everything is self-paced, meaning you can go through the modules at your own speed, jump around to the parts that are more relevant to you, and work on your own timetable. There are no deadlines, and you’ll have lifetime access to the course, just in case life gets in the way or you’d like to return to the course again in the future.

I also included some audio prompts to help you out when you’re feeling stuck or having trouble focusing. So, you’ll get a little extra Emilie support in your ears as you move through the exercises.
