Hey multipods,
Something coooool arrive in the mail today…
That’s right! The finished, hardcover version of How to Be Everything!!!
And as you can see, I made a video for you. In this video, I share a little about why I wrote the book and what you’ll get out of it. And I answer the following three questions, which several of you have inquired about:
- Will How to Be Everything be available in my country?
- Will How to Be Everything be coming out in my language?
- What’s the difference between How to Be Everything + Renaissance Business?
I am beyond excited to share this book with you.
Your pal and fellow multipotentialite,
Emilie
p.s. I will be doing a book reading, Q+A and signing at Powell’s in Portland, Oregon on May 1st at 7:30! If you live nearby, I would love to see/meet you.

I’m very happy for you Emilie, I’m very grateful to God for Him putting you in my life. You came at a time when I was just graduating high school and nearly two years later I’ve finally started my own renaissance business. I’ll definitely be picking up your book as soon as I can! Best of success to you Emilie!
Emilie says
Thanks so much Muhammed.

I pre-ordered the book when it was first announced. I’m a big reader and this is the what I’ve been most excited about getting my hands on :). Can’t wait! Thanks in advance for all your hard work on this book and for helping bridge the gap in a very important aspect of our lives :).
Emilie says
Woo hoo! Thanks Mark. That’s awesome. 🙂

How exciting! Congrats! I am so grateful that I found you today. I’ve been trying to give myself permission to ‘do everything’ for about a year and I felt so alone. I didn’t know there was more of us! I’m almost 40 and feel like I’ve accomplished nothing, but have so much POTENTIAL. I can’t wait to learn more about how to make a living with my super talent!
Plus your hair looks super cute!
Emilie says
Heh thank you, Michelle! And welcome to the community! Always nice to meet another awesome multipotentialites. 🙂

I’m really looking forward to this, Emilie. I spent years trying to work out what my ‘one thing’ was, and kept repeatedly ‘thinking I had found it’, only to lose interest in the end. Since being introduced to you and your work, not only have I been able to develop my own blog, but I also enjoy spotting multipotentialites in the wild.
Some people just make so much more sense when you realise what they are.
Emilie says
Thanks so much for your comment, Richard. That’s really awesome to hear!
And I too enjoy spotting multipotentialites in the wild. 🙂

I’m so excited to read your book! I’ve been feeling super lost lately because I feel like I have to choose between making decent money or pursuing my true passions. I know that isn’t exactly true, but I don’t know where to begin. I feel like I’ve been at the beginning of something for years, almost like I’m spinning my wheels.
The funny thing is I hadn’t visited this site in a while and knew I’d be able to find some clarity and community, so here I am. Little did I know you would be announcing your upcoming book! I live in Portland, too, so I hope to make it to the book reading. ?
Emilie says
Hey Julia,
The choice between money and your passions is definitely not one you should have to make. I think you’ll find there are some really great models (and role models) in the book to help offer a few alternatives. 🙂
And yes! Please come to Powells. I actually moved up to BC back in December, but I’ll be returning to pdx for the launch and reading. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to do it.
Best,
Emilie

Great site. Just found it at a time in my life where I’m in the middle of juggling many “callings” and feeling stretched way too thin between them. My question is directly related to committing to and finishing a huge project such as writing/editing/publishing/promoting, et al. a book.
I’m in the process of finishing the edits for my second book before self-pubbing it on Amazon, while at the same time trying to finish a debut album, AND considering creating new courses on Udemy. With all this on my plate, I can’t seem to pull out the emotional strength from within that’s being suppressed by all the work I’ve already completed and that’s ahead.
So how did you do it? How did you see the goal of finishing your new book while other passions were knocking down your door from jealousy?
Emilie says
Hi Eric,
How did I get the book written? Deadlines and accountability. 🙂 I had been messing around with it for 2 years or so, and then I got a book deal and had 8 months to complete it and, well, shit got real. lol.
Maybe giving yourself some mini-deadlines for your book and finding an accountability buddy to hold you to them would help. You could also consider having fewer projects on your plate for now (or maybe just waiting to start the Udemy courses). Just because you’re a multipotentialite, that doesn’t mean you have to do ALL THE THINGS at the same time. Another idea would be to focus on your book and album primarily and take some Tinkering Time occasionally to play with that course creation project, but view that as a side thing, not as one of your priority projects, and limit your time on it (for now).
Just a few ideas to play with.
