Hey hey Puttypeep!
With the World Domination Summit happening this weekend, we’ve decided to put together an official multipotentialite meetup. It should be a lot of fun, so if you’re around, definitely make sure to swing by.
Here’s your video invitation, some reflection on being an introvert or feeling socially awkward at big conferences, and a shot of my squeakie puppy.
Multipotentialite Meetup/Lunch
- Where: The Laughing Planet (3320 SE Belmont)
- When: Thursday, July 5 at 11:30am (they don’t take reservations so we want to show up early enough to snag some sweet tables in the garden).
- How: If you’re coming by bus from downtown, the 15 is your most direct route, though there are several other buses that would work.
Karaoke
- Where: Chopsticks II (2651 E. Burnside)
- When: Thursday, July 5 at 10pm
- How: Bus 20 runs down Burnside, so if you’re staying downtown or in the NW, just hop on.
- Note: Chopsticks has the best type of karaoke, meaning totally casual, dive bar, happy dancing people, and shall we say, “much diversity” when it comes to performance styles. ; )
Check out Trimet’s website where you can plot out your routes and figure out which buses will get you where. Bus fare is $2.10 for about 2 hours (give or take), or $5 for a day pass.
Finally, if you see me floating around WDS, be sure to say hi!
Your Turn
Are you coming? If so, what’s one thing you hope to get out of your time in Portland?
Ha! I didn’t know you were a karaoke person. I’m simultaneously terrified of and intrigued by the phenomenon :)
I think it’s awesome you’re using videos to ramp up as you pursue your speaking goal. I’m looking forward to seeing more of them! And I’m sure Grendel will always be willing to participate.
I wish I could come to Portland! I found out about Chris & WDS too late for this year. I’m so jealous of you guys who get to meet in person! Take pictures, and eat a bite of paleo bowl for me (sounds delicious!). I doubt I have to say this, but…have fun!!
Heh yeah I do enjoy the karaoke. There’s just something about it… Getting on stage is scary but doable, which makes it awesome. :)
Next year, Erin!
Hooray!! So excited for this. And love the idea of doing video to practice speaking stuff – great idea.
Yeah! Thanks for taking the lead on this, Sarah. Can’t wait to meet up.
So glad you’re doing this Emilie, can’t wait to meet you in person!
Oh awesome. I’m glad you’re coming, Milo!
Hey! I don’t get in until Friday morning, but would love to meet you in person! Let’s try to make that happen :)
Definitely. :)
Bloggers singing kareoke, scary. I’ll try to make it for the lunch that day.
And for those who like awesome microbrews and weird English food, Horsebrass is right up the street on Belmont. :-)
Yay! I’ll see you there, Josh.
Got a last minute doubleshift at work, so won’t be able to make it. :-(
See ya round.
I’m a WDS Ambassador, so hope to see you during Registration & Check-In, Emily! I live in Portland, but have been out of town and not getting back home in time to make the lunch; I’ll see about the karaoke.
And I concur…videos as speaking prax – great idea!
Sweet Sherrill, I hope to bump into you. Have fun being an ambassador. My friend Mike is doing that too.
It would be very fun to meet up! I just discovered your website two days ago and can’t believe other people exist that feel like me. Wow.
My husband and I will both be at the WDS, but our childcare fell through, so it might be challenging for us to make sessions, let alone meetups. The boys are 12 and 9, so we’re hoping they’ll get something out of hobnobbing with some neat people at WDS, but we just aren’t sure what it’ll be okay to bring them to and when will be best to leave them in the hotel room. I get the feeling not too many other folks there will have kids.
So I’m not sure we can make it to meet you, but perhaps we’ll see you around :-)
Hi Jonell,
The Laughing Planet is pretty kid-friendly. You’re welcome to bring the whole family, if you like. Either way, I looking forward to meeting you!
I’ll be there! I just moved here, so hopefully I will a) unpack some clean clothes before then and b) not get lost.
Nice! And meh I’m cool with dirty clothes.
